Windows 10 and 11
Press Win + . (period) or Win + ; (semicolon) to open the emoji panel anywhere you're typing.
macOS
Press Control + Command + Space Bar to open the Character Viewer, then click an emoji to insert it or double-click to keep browsing.
Chrome OS
Press the Everything button (or Search key on older keyboards) plus Shift + Space to open the built-in emoji picker.
Linux (GNOME)
Most GNOME-based distributions support Ctrl + . or a dedicated emoji picker app depending on the desktop environment and version installed.
When shortcuts don't work
Some apps intercept these key combinations for their own features, and locked-down work computers sometimes disable system shortcuts entirely. In either case, an online emoji keyboard sidesteps the problem completely since it only needs a browser tab.
