The Chrome OS shortcut
Press the Everything button (the circle icon that replaced the Search key on newer Chromebooks) together with Shift and Space to open the built-in emoji picker anywhere you're typing.
Searching within the picker
The Chrome OS emoji picker includes a search field at the top, so typing a keyword like 'cat' or 'party' narrows the results instead of scrolling through every category.
If the shortcut doesn't respond
On managed school or work Chromebooks, some keyboard shortcuts are disabled by IT policy, which can block the built-in picker entirely — in that case, a browser-based emoji keyboard works as a reliable fallback since it doesn't rely on any system shortcut.
Copying into Google Docs and Slides
Because Chromebooks are often used with Google Workspace apps, copying an emoji from a browser-based picker and pasting it directly into Docs, Sheets, or Slides works exactly the same as it does in any other browser field.
